Addressing Behavioral Issues

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

6:30 p.m. -- Gather
7:00 p.m. -- Meeting begins

Location:
Speedway United Methodist Church

5065 W. 16th St., Indianapolis

Children and youth exhibit all sorts of challenging behaviors as they develop - a fact that is even more pressing and perplexing for young people with autism, Down syndrome, and other developmental disabilities. Parents face a range of issues: Is my child capable of controlling behaviors? How do we figure out what causes behaviors and how can we prevent and cope with them? When my child's behaviors are interfering with his education, how do we work with the school to address them positively? How can we work on this at home, and when do we need professional help?

About the presenters:

Denise Hubble and Lisa Elliot of Fresh Perspectives work with students who have behavior issues in school settings and in social skills groups. Susan Fay works with young people with developmental and behavioral issues at the North Meridian Psychiatric Associates and has expertise in both behavioral strategies and medication options. Julie Brant works with children and youth using Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) and Dynamic Minds strategies at The Hope Source.
