Local Musician Invites Individuals with Down syndrome to Participate in Music Video

Local musician, Matt Burmeister and his group Tiki Tom Toms & the Pineapple Beach Party are recording a video to their song, “Sending Love your Way” on Saturday, December 8th at the Greenwood Community Center. All individuals with Down syndrome are invited to participate. The song is available at: https://youtu.be/mWhj1iAGG7w. Sending love your Way, spent several weeks on the Radio A1A Top 40 and it even reached the #1 spot on TikiPod Radio’s Top 20. It was written and released by singer, songwriter and guitar player Matt Burmeister who is a local musician living in Franklin, Indiana. “I just want to do something super positive and spread some love into this world. We are planning an official video shoot for the song and I would love to celebrate families touched by Down Syndrome.” Said Matt who has a friend who has a son with Down syndrome.

The recording will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at the Greenwood Community Center, 100 Surina Way, Greenwood, IN 46143. All individuals with Down syndrome are welcome to participate! For more information and to RSVP, please email: lisa@dsindiana.org

About Down syndrome

Down syndrome occurs in one out of every 691 births. There are approximately 350,000 individuals with Down syndrome living within the United States. It is estimated that there are 7,000 to 8,000 individuals with Down syndrome in Indiana.  Down syndrome is caused by having a third copy of the 21st chromosome instead of just two copies. Down syndrome is indiscriminate of race, religion or economic status. Down syndrome affects all walks of life. People with Down syndrome possess a wide degree of abilities and are active participants in civic, educational, occupational, social and recreational activities in the community.

About Down Syndrome Indiana

Down Syndrome Indiana is the only state-wide Down syndrome association in Indiana. Down syndrome Indiana offers support at every age. The programs it offers are intended to promote the inclusion of individuals with Down syndrome in their greater community, as well as, to offer support and information to families, caregivers, educators, employers and the professionals who serve individuals with Down syndrome.
